Who we are: Owner Sue Brown attended the University of Michigan and has a California teaching credential in high school science. She has over 20 years of experience teaching students from kindergarten through adults -- including students with learning differences -- in almost every subject.

Our tutors are credentialed teachers, or otherwise have deep experience in their subjects and supervised by credentialed teachers. Tutors are chosen for their ability to teach subjects in a clear and engaging manner.

What we do: Yuba City Tutoring Center is a place where students can have academic help if they are struggling, have academic enrichment if they are ahead, or have a personal coach by their side as they do homework.

What to expect: When a student enrolls in tutoring, we do our best to match student with a tutor suitable in experience and personality, as well as knowledge of subject matter. It is helpful to bring us school reports or test results to guide our instruction.

We informally assess and monitor progress, personalizing our methods to fit each student. Students often bring their homework, but we also have many resources for skill development in reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, and math at all levels, as well as other subjects if desired.

Over time, our students not only improve their grades, but they often feel more confident and competent in general. Students tell us this is why they return to the tutoring center year after year.
